Ocean life in Guanacaste also offers an interesting area of species. Places like Playa del Coco are teamed with scuba tour companies that will take you out to Catalina Islands, Monkey Head and other spots to view some of the impressive marine life of the Pacific. It may not offer as colorful species as in the Caribbean, but it is without doubt worth visiting for scuba.

Depending on the time of the year you may even be able to swim with whale or a whale shark. There are also dolphins, sea turtles, moray eels, trigger fish, angel fish and puffer fish.

Fishing is a big attraction as well. Coco Beach is a fisherman town. You can book a fishing boat to take you out for red snapper, jacks, dorado (mahi mahi), wahoo, tuna and rooster fish. Further out you can fish for marlin and swordfish.
